Hello 2014!

Happy New Year, lovely readers!
Can you believe 2013 has whizzed by? I certainly can't! It's been a bit of a crazy year and I don't really feel like we've had time to sit down and evaluate it all. Seeing as it's New Year's Day and I'm on the couch, in my onesie with a cup of tea, it seems like the perfect time to have a catch up. I hope you're in the same position, or one as equally comfortable. I guess it's time to wave goodbye to 2013 and welcome in 2014.
So here are a few of my 2013 highlights, it's been a good one.

Berlin

I went to Berlin back in the springtime with my Mum and fell in love. It is quite an extraordinary city, full of history, culture and pretty wonderful food. Right up my street. It was particularly special for me as it marked the real beginning of my travel blogging, Berlin well and truly gave me the bug. If you're interested, you can see my whole Berlin series here.

BBC GoodFood internship

I was incredibly lucky this summer to be offered a work placement with BBC GoodFood and Olive magazine. As you can imagine, it's kind of my dream job so I was absolutely thrilled to be spending time in the office and even in the test kitchen. The team at GoodFood are such lovely people and I couldn't have felt more welcome. It was an unforgettable, not to mention incredibly important experience for me. Perhaps one day I'll be back there full time...

Australia

So this one is kind of mental. If you don't already know, I was flown out to blog my way across Australia's Outback last summer. Even writing that down feels a little crazy. It was the experience of a lifetime. Truly unforgettable. I met wonderful people, saw blow-your-mind-incredible things and really, truly fell head over heels in love with travel blogging. If I write more here this post will go on forever, but you can see all my Australia posts here.

Moved in with J

Guess what? I became a proper grown up this year. You'd think the kind of person who plays air guitar walking home from work wouldn't be allowed to be an adult, but they let any old Tom, Dick or Harry be one. So yes, I'm a grown up because I moved in with my lovely J. We even bought a hamster together, it's all getting real now don't you know.
And I know the picture is dorky, but it makes my insides smile.

Accepted for a Masters degree

Finally, and quite excitingly for me, I've been accepted to stay and do a Masters degree at my university. I love my degree and can't wait to specialise further and learn more (you can just hear the nerd coming through there, can't you?). I'm so excited to start a new chapter in my education and so thankful to my incredible parents for supporting me in all my decisions. Happily, this means student cooking on LLK will be continuing for another year too! Hurrah!
Anyway guys, I hope you all had a wonderful 2013, let's make this one another good'un, hey?
