Spinach, Kiwi and Lime Smoothie

Let's get real.
It's January. It's miserable and everyone has exams or Christmas blues.
Quite frankly, I'm fed up of it all.
I don't want to think about how I've saved all my money rather than spent it on these (wellies are a cool buy, no matter what anyone else says) and I don't want to think about how much I ate over Christmas. I've taken to avoiding mirrors.
This smoothie is an answer. An answer to money/health and life-in-general woes.
Packed with goodness and health it is the physical and mental stimulant all of us January sluggers need.
Also, it is affordable as heck and a healthy student smug smile is guaranteed.

For my January-Buster smoothie you will need:
3 handfuls of spinach
1 kiwi
1/2 lime
1 banana
3 good splashes of milk
1-2 teaspoons of honey
Jolly straws - optional.

Begin by rinsing your spinach and putting it in a blender.

Peel and chop your kiwi and add that to the spinach leaves.

 Slice the banana and chuck it in too.

Add your first splash of milk. I forgot to measure this out, apologies. But I know your culinary instinct will guide you through just fine.


Squeeze in the juice of half a lime and add the zest too if you're a limey little fan like me.
Add in more milk until you're happy with the consistency. I went for another two splashes. Technical measuring skills, right?

Add honey to taste. Make sure you don't whack a load in just because the smoothie has a load of spinach in. It's surprisingly tasty. Always sample before you add.

Whizz until smooth and delightfully green.
Add straws.

Savour the taste and enjoy telling your flatmates how spinach helps to fight cancer cells, slows the ageing process, lowers blood pressure, improves brain function and acts as an anti-inflammatory. Yeah. We love the spinach.
